The Island of Lost Smiles

"Where has the lady of the sun gone?"
"She has flown deep into the eye of the great tempest - to the Island of Lost Smiles."
"Why?"
"She means to comb every inch of the island till all the joy that was left there is found, and bring it back anew to the one who lost it."


A painting for someone dear to me, who seems to be having trouble finding his smiles. Fun fact: the dragon here is the new design of the dawnbringer species. My last painting also had a juvenile one. I also experimented with using low-poly modeling in Maya as a base of sorts for this to rough out lighting and get the perspective right. Actual painting was all Photoshop and Painter.
